Her firing took place after Mick Dadlani, owner of the sports bar, brushed off Ms. Hardin upon meeting her. Within an hour of their first encounter, Ms. Hardin discovered she was fired. As it turned out later, it was discovered that Dadlani expressed a desire to hire ‘white blonde chicks or girls’, as it was stated by Megan Cacace, the lead attorney for Hardin’s racial discrimination lawsuit.

Mick Dadlani’s suspected white supremacist views didn’t just stop at his encounter with Briggitta Hardin. Cacace also goes on to reveal that back in 2011, Dadlani closed Redline earlier on one particular night because a few Black men showed up at the establishment wearing baggy clothing and allegedly displayed a “ganglike” appearance. The next day, Dadlani was spotted singling out Black customers at the door, and turning them away.

As a result of her pain and suffering, Ms. Hardin has been awarded $175,000 in compensatory damages and $510,000 in punitive damages, plus an additional $2,000 in punitive damages.

Mainstream Media Outlet Attempted To Protect The Identities Of White Arizona Teens Who Participated In Racist Stunt https://www.melanoidnation.org/mainstream-media-outlet-attempted-to-protect-the-identities-of-white-arizona-teens-who-participated-in-racist-stunt/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/mainstream-media-outlet-attempted-to-protect-the-identities-of-white-arizona-teens-who-participated-in-racist-stunt/#comments Sat, 23 Jan 2016 09:35:12 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=3146 PHOENIX, AZ — For the past day, a story has gone viral which has raised eyebrows and concerns of many. Desert Vista High Schoolprominent educational institution located in Arizona’s largest city (and state capital), has been under well-deserved scrutiny because of a leaked photo which featured six white female students of the school posing in shirts–with one letter on each shirt that spelled the word “nigger” with the students standing side-by-side.

While the story itself is national news, perhaps a more subtle detail of the ordeal is that ABC15 Arizona–the Phoenix affiliate for the ABC network–has a Facebook page which openly portrays the racial epithet spelled out by the white females’ shirts, yet has strategically blurred their faces as if to protect the identity of the female students. What’s more interesting about the network’s editing of the photo is that for years, underage Melanoid people have often been wrongfully accused of crimes that they didn’t commit, yet their faces are displayed everywhere for anyone in the world to see.

Much to the disappointment of certain Melanoid people in this country, many of us expect a higher morality from white females for the simple fact that they are white. On the contrary, these white teens are citizens of Arizona, a state which has long rejected the observation of Dr. King’s holiday. Maybe their racism is more than a joke, but rather just a way of life for them. White supremacy is a religion, and these white female high school students are nothing more than just faithful parishioners in the “church” of racism/white supremacy.

Here is the screenshot of the racist white teens with their faces edited out of the photo.

Great Work Ethics, Or Foolish Pride?: Black Society’s Burning Desire To Excel In A Rigged System https://www.melanoidnation.org/great-work-ethics-or-foolish-pride-black-societys-burning-desire-to-excel-in-a-rigged-system/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/great-work-ethics-or-foolish-pride-black-societys-burning-desire-to-excel-in-a-rigged-system/#comments Sat, 26 Dec 2015 21:36:41 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=3032 It has been well-documented that human civilization–more recently the United States of America–was built on the literal blood, sweat, and tears of Black people for generations. It has been the brains and brawn of Melanoid people who gave us gargantuan and influential U.S. cities such as Washington D.C., Chicago, and Los Angeles. It has also been noted that our intellectual prowess has created countless innovations which make our everyday lives more convenient than ever in this modern day society. In spite of our illustrious history of being the quintessential trendsetters and builders, have we in Black Society paid a price for doing so?

The aforementioned examples of Black Excellence had to be displayed in order to reiterate that a counterproductive spirit is nowhere to be found in the DNA of African/Melanoid people. The semblances of “laziness” and lack of motivation which has infiltrated Black Society in recent generations has been attributed to external factors–namely the system of racism/white supremacy. When a person’s ability to provide for themselves and their families is stripped away from them systematically, you can be sure to witness a person who’s in danger of falling prey to a broken spirit, which gives way to the previously mentioned “laziness”.

Because we have often acknowledged this to be a problem in Black Society, many of us feel a sense of obligation to the dominant society to prove that we’re not “failures” by overcompensating in all areas of human activity. At the workplace for example, we may want to prove that we are just as worthy as our non-Black colleagues by putting in more hours and labor than anyone else at our jobs. We also might go out of our way to be the most polite in our social circle(s) of non-Blacks, just to show that “we come in peace”, and that we mean no harm.

Maybe the best term to capture such an overambitious spirit in Melanoid people would be none other than “John Henryism”, which was a term coined by a Black educator named Sherman James. In a nutshell, “John Henryism” describes Black people’s tendency to overwork ourselves in order to “fit in”, only to remain in a second-class state in comparison to the members of the dominant society. “John Henryism” is such a debilitating approach to navigating through society that it spawns various physical ailments such as hypertension and high blood pressure.

As you may or may not know, the coined phrase “John Henryism” is an ode to the American folk hero by the name of John Henry, a Black man whose relentless work ethic led to his eventual demise at the hands of a steam powered machine, which is a great analogy for our situation in a white supremacist society.

Check out the video below to hear Gus T. Renegade’s profound take on the dangers of “John Henryism”.

The condition recognized in academia as “John Henryism” is such a serious phenomenon that it is killing us–literally. While much honor lies in our strong work ethic, perhaps a more healthy alternative to falling prey to “John Henryism” would be to re-direct the same energy/work ethics into creating our own alternatives (i.e., economic base, neighborhoods, education) to a society which has been designed to exclude us in the first place.

Former Black Employees Of Sara Lee Factory Set To Receive Settlement After Being Mistreated At Workplace https://www.melanoidnation.org/former-black-employees-of-sara-lee-factory-set-to-receive-settlement-after-being-mistreated-at-workplace/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/former-black-employees-of-sara-lee-factory-set-to-receive-settlement-after-being-mistreated-at-workplace/#comments Sat, 26 Dec 2015 20:06:35 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=3024 Police killings and disproportionate incarcerations are two major issues plaguing Black Society, but it would be wise to add one more item to such a dubious list: workplace slavery.

Black workers of a Sara Lee plant in Paris, Texas–which closed in 2011–suffered atrocious mistreatment at the hands of white supremacist supervisors and staff. The workplace conditions that the Melanoid employees suffered were so vile and disrespectful, it was stated in the settlement (filed by 74 former Black employees at the factory) that the workers were subjected to “environmental racism”.

The Hillshire Brands Company, (formerly known as the Sara Lee Corporation), is slated to pay $4 million to the former Black employees who were mistreated. Reports reveal that the factory’s premises were covered in grafitti, with white extremist phrases and words such as “we hate these niggers”, “KKK”, and apes hanging from nooses–littered throughout the facility.

Not only was the blatant racism seen throughout the factory, it was also heard on numerous occasions, with the former Black employees recalling accounts of them being verbally assaulted by supervisors and co-workers with a barrage of racial epithets. The grievances of the Black workers were ignored by management.

The Black workers of the now-defunct Paris, TX plant were under the thumb of white supremacy at their job so much that it physically affected their health. CBS Chicago reported that the Blacks at this job were forced to do jobs in areas which were infested with black mold, asbestos, and other deadly substances. As a result of being railroaded into working in such deadly conditions, several of the employees developed cancer in the process.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) opened a two year investigation which concluded that the Melanoid people who were the victims of discrimination at this factory were entitled to the payout.

Follow this link to watch a video clip of a statement given by Suzanne Anderson, Attorney for the Dallas Chapter of the EEOC in regards to the settlement that is owed to the former Black employees of the Sara Lee plant in Paris, Texas.

Another Black Child With A Toy Gun Was Shot By Suspected Race Soldier In Florida https://www.melanoidnation.org/another-black-child-with-a-toy-gun-was-shot-by-suspected-race-soldier-in-florida/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/another-black-child-with-a-toy-gun-was-shot-by-suspected-race-soldier-in-florida/#comments Sun, 13 Dec 2015 19:53:12 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=2983 JACKSONVILLE, FL — One year after 12-year-old Tamir Rice was shot and killed by a race soldier in Ohio, another innocent Black child suffered an attempt on his life.

Jacksonville Sheriff Officers were called out to the home of a woman located off of Harts Road after she reported that a teen was shooting a BB gun to her window this past Friday evening.

Here is the video footage of the Tom Hackney, Director of Investigations, briefing the local media.

The shooting victim, who was a 14-year-old Black boy, was shot in the leg by a race soldier cop by the name of Josh Livinggood. The cop shot at the boy six times before one of the bullets connected with the boy’s leg. Fortunately for the victim, the gunshot wound wasn’t fatal. It should also be noted that the boy is mentally challenged, and his previous encounters with the police have involved his condition.

It was determined later that the boy was shot under the erroneous suspicion that he possessed a “Desert Eagle”, which is why the cop felt compelled to shoot the Melanoid child.

Black Man Stepped Forward To Show His Support For Daniel Holtzclaw, Considers The Convicted Rapist To Be His “Brother” https://www.melanoidnation.org/black-man-stepped-forward-to-show-his-support-for-daniel-holtzclaw-considers-the-convicted-rapist-to-be-his-brother/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/black-man-stepped-forward-to-show-his-support-for-daniel-holtzclaw-considers-the-convicted-rapist-to-be-his-brother/#comments Sat, 12 Dec 2015 20:07:12 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=2977 OKLAHOMA CITY — If you’re familiar with Malcolm X’s famous House Negro/Field Negro” speech, then perhaps you’ll understand the mindset of certain Black people who show empathy for the members of the dominant society who practice overt racism/white supremacy. One Black man has openly showed his support and friendship for a former race soldier cop in Oklahoma who was convicted Thursday of raping 13 Melanoid women over the past couple of years.

Cortland Selman, who’s Black, flew to the Oklahoma state capital from Detroit to defend Daniel Holtzclaw, the aforementioned rapist cop while his trial was still underway last month. Selman claims that he and Holtzclaw have been longtime friends, and had this to say about him in the following video:

Even though all of the women who were sexually assaulted by Holtzclaw were Black, Selman (Holtzclaw’s friend) doesn’t seem to believe that his convicted friend held any ill will toward against Black Society. Holtzclaw even committed his sex crimes against his Melanoid victims in one of Oklahoma’s poorest (and predominately Black) neighborhoods, according to CNN.  It appears as if Daniel Holtzclaw’s hideous acts were indeed committed in a very calculating and specific manner, targeting only Black women.

As the prosecution said in a closing statement last week, “He didn’t choose CEOs or soccer moms; he chose women he could count on not telling what he was doing.” Doesn’t that sound like women who have been subjugated and cast aside by society to be a permanent underclass?

Individuals in Black Society such as Cortland Selman could be provided with numerous evidence of white supremacist oppression and evildoing, yet they will still defend white supremacists to a fault–no matter how despicable their actions toward Melanoid people may be.

Black Woman Hit With Unfair Jail Sentence In Memphis https://www.melanoidnation.org/black-woman-hit-with-unfair-jail-sentence-in-memphis/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/black-woman-hit-with-unfair-jail-sentence-in-memphis/#comments Wed, 09 Dec 2015 20:24:45 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=2724 MEMPHIS, TN — A young Melanoid woman is in the fight for her life as she attempts to clear her name after making an honest mistake.

The woman, named Alexis Cain, was sentenced to two years in prison after leaving her puppy in the car on a hot July afternoon. Although the puppy succumbed to the summer heat while sitting in the car, the owner of the dog (Cain) had no intent to inflict harm upon the animal.

The 24-year-Cain, who worked in a supervisory role at her job, displayed the ability to be a responsible young adult, despite what state prosecutor, Eric Christiansen says. ““I think it’s fair,” he says. “She left the dog in there for two hours. She killed the dog, basically. Just let it cook to death.”

The two year prison sentence is excessive due to the nature of the crime, yet Christiansen states that it was done to make an example out of people who may do what Ms. Cain did back in July. Alexis Cain is eligible for a program that would enable her to do her time outside of prison with stipulations of good behavior.

Regardless of the fact that she is granted such an opportunity, this is yet another example of the lives of animals being valued over the lives of Black humans. In the process, another Black life (Cain’s) has been made more difficult for trivial purposes.

Race Soldier Cop Found Guilty After Being Shown On Video Threatening Black Man With Gun https://www.melanoidnation.org/race-soldier-cop-found-guilty-after-being-shown-on-video-threatening-black-man-with-gun/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/race-soldier-cop-found-guilty-after-being-shown-on-video-threatening-black-man-with-gun/#comments Sat, 05 Dec 2015 18:07:29 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=2957 PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD — There is a recent phrase that has been coined that goes, “Black people are only one police stop from having their names become a hashtag on Twitter”. If the saying holds true–and unfortunately it does a disproportionate number of times–then a Melanoid man named William Cunningham was certainly in danger of having his name as a trending topic on social media. An incident occurred on the afternoon of May 10, 2014 which saw Mr. Cunningham’s life hang in the balance at the hands of a white supremacist race soldier named Jenchesky Santiago, who served as a member of the Prince George’s County Police Department.

According to various sources, Santiago (who is white) allegedly felt emboldened to partake in an over-the-top demonstration of his authority as a law enforcement official when he was reported to have had two friends riding along with him in his squad car, which he wasn’t supposed to do. Another glaring violation committed by Santiago reported by various sources was that he engaged in extremely tasteless and threatening commentary towards Cunningham. According to Raw StoryCunningham and his cousin Kennieth Smith were innocently minding their business when Santiago aggressively approached them with the following statements:

“Y’all gonna learn about officer Santiago today. I just got back from Iraq. I’m not scared of you all (Blacks).” Cunningham made a testimony in court that Santiago also said, “You need to watch your attitude because us P.G. cops, we shoot people.”

Here is a video snippet of Jenchesky Santiago’s unprofessional and unruly behavior.

The video above was obtained from a cell phone video recording which has been under wraps in the possession of the PG County officials until it eventually went viral. PG County Police Chief Mark Magaw is “recommending termination”. Magaw released the following statement in regards to the suspension of Jenchesky Santiago.

“The actions Officer Santiago chose to take that day are his alone. His behavior is flagrant, appalling and isolated,” Magaw said at a press conference. “His actions are among the worst I’ve seen as Chief of Police and that will be taken into account when I make a decision about his employment.”

Santiago is currently suspended without pay and will be sentenced on January 8th, 2016.William Cunningham and his wife Shaketta are seeking $12 million dollars in damages via a separate lawsuit they filed, due to William’s civil rights violations being violated by the race soldier.

Not One Dime: Black America Takes Buying Power Into Its Collective Hands https://www.melanoidnation.org/not-one-dime-black-america-takes-buying-power-into-its-collective-hands/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/not-one-dime-black-america-takes-buying-power-into-its-collective-hands/#comments Sat, 28 Nov 2015 06:40:33 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=2943 The social media age has made it easier than ever before to convey messages, spread the word(s) of movements, and create platforms. In spite of some notoriety that this recent method of communication has received by detractors, social media has given birth to the #NotOneDime movement, a movement created last year in response to innocent Melanoid citizens being murdered by race soldiers who usually walk away from the courts unpunished. The premise of the response was to not only boycott the dominant society’s businesses, but also to encourage a time period of action and service from Black Friday through Cyber Monday.

Although the concept of the “Not One Dime” movement appears to be both a noble and revolutionary act in itself, we’d be remiss to acknowledge that boycotting non-Black businesses alone doesn’t necessarily equate to Black Empowerment at its full potential. As a matter of fact, many concerned Melanoid citizens have made it their responsibility to not only refuse the patronizing of non-Black establishments during this time period, but they’ve also made a conscious decision to “Buy Black” at a higher rate during this same time period–more so than they usually would at any other time.

While the “Buy Black” concept has been in discussions for many years, perhaps it is because of Internet’s far-reaching power that it has become a more commonplace activity. Last year, we featured a story which profiled several ways to locate Black-Owned businesses throughout the country, and this year we will be taking a slightly different approach to giving your Black-Owned business the shine that it deserves. If you are a Black business owner, please list your business info (and link to the business’s site) in the comments section of this story.

Let’s not limit buying Black to a short weekend alone. Remember to buy Black, and sell to the world as much as possible. Much success to the hardworking and entrepreneurial minded Melanoid people who exude top-flight professionalism and have provided goods and/or services of excellent quality.

Racist Texts Exchanged Between Prison Guards Have Been Revealed https://www.melanoidnation.org/racist-texts-exchanged-between-prison-guards-have-been-revealed/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/racist-texts-exchanged-between-prison-guards-have-been-revealed/#comments Mon, 23 Nov 2015 09:13:34 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=2917 In Camden, New Jersey, nine corrections officers who worked at the Camden County (NJ) jail are being outed for their racism.

According to the Philadelphia Magazinemore than 5,000 text messages were exchanged, prompting the facility to fire the 9 white officers. Here are a few examples of the blatantly racist text messages exchanged among the guards:

  • “To me a really good high is stomping the shit out of a nigger for no reason.”

  • “No matter how they look at things, no matter how dressed up they get.. When they wake up tomorrow morning they’re still just NIGGERS.”

  • When referencing New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio in the series of text exchanges, one of the messages read “Don’t forget his wife is a colored.”

The texts were written and exchanged on phones that were smuggled into the facility. According to the David Owens, the warden of the Camden County jail, the officers involved in the slew of racist texts represents a “small minority of rogue officers”, and says that in no way do the text message exchanges representing the hard work done on a daily basis by the hundreds of employees of the jail.”

The race soldier prison guards have been placed under investigation since late last year, when a shakedown of the staff occurred in November of 2014. More can be found on this story by following this link.
