During the interview, Pastor Darrell Scott, who presides over New Spirit Revival Center  in Cleveland, vehemently spoke out against any implications of Trump being a white supremacist. “It’s not racial, it’s cultural”, Pastor Scott says in regards to Trump referring to one of his Black male supporters in attendance for his Redding, CA rally as “my African-American over here”.

“It was a term of endearment”, Scott adds.

Last night’s CNN appearance hasn’t been the first time that Pastor Scott has openly voiced his support for Donald Trump. Back in September, Scott and a number of other Black clergy members met with Trump in his New York office to ‘pray for him’, showing their support for him in the process.

Here is the video of the CNN interview.

The Murder Of Tamir Rice Has Been Deemed ‘Reasonable’ https://www.melanoidnation.org/the-murder-of-tamir-rice-has-been-deemed-reasonable/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/the-murder-of-tamir-rice-has-been-deemed-reasonable/#comments Sun, 11 Oct 2015 19:51:55 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=2669 CLEVELAND, OH — Open season on Melanoid children has been justified by the dominant society. The justification to murder them has presented itself yet again in the case of 12-year-old Tamir Rice.

According to the Cuyahoga County prosecutor’s office, The November 2014 shooting death of the Black child has been considered “reasonable” because of Rice’s possession of a toy gun and officers Timothy Loehmann and his partner, Frank Garmback assumption that the 12-year-old boy would be a threat to them.

On CNN.com’s  coverage of the story, Subodh Chandra–an attorney for the family of the slain Tamir Rice–has stated that the Rice family has demanded that the officers be held accountable, but feels that the prosecution isn’t aggressively advocating the accountability of the two cops.

“Any presentation to a grand jury — without the prosecutor advocating for Tamir — is a charade,” Chandra said. “To get so-called experts to assist in the whitewash — when the world has the video of what happened — is all the more alarming.”

No Surprise Here: The Debut of the Smash Hit Film ‘Straight Outta Compton’ Had No Reports of Violence Over The Weekend https://www.melanoidnation.org/no-surprise-here-the-debut-of-the-smash-hit-film-straight-outta-compton-had-no-reports-of-violence-over-the-weekend/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/no-surprise-here-the-debut-of-the-smash-hit-film-straight-outta-compton-had-no-reports-of-violence-over-the-weekend/#comments Mon, 17 Aug 2015 19:15:07 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=2349 Contrary to contrived fears of members of the dominant society–namely suspected white supremacists–the opening weekend of the wildly successful film Straight Outta Compton saw no security threats.

In the days leading up to the nationwide premiere of the film, many venues across the country witnessed a heightened presence of law enforcement. Much of the paranoia stems from the dominant society’s perception that the legendary (and revolutionary) hip-hop group’s brutally honest message of Melanoid people being mistreated and killed at the hands of law enforcement would incite an emotional response from Melanoid viewers of the film, thus emboldening them to indulge in possible violent behavior.

However, no such instances occurred, once again dispelling misconstrued notions that Melanoid people behave a certain way. In the following video, CNN host Ashleigh Banfield discusses the box office hit:

Although this strikes as shocking news to the dominant society, this is the standard code of conduct that Melanoid people abide by as we attend films created by Melanoid people, which pales in comparison to the terroristic actions of murderers who are notorious for murdering innocent people in movie theaters on many occasions.

Cracking The Code: Van Jones Shows Melanoid Youth A Means Of Both Education And Empowerment https://www.melanoidnation.org/cracking-the-code-van-jones-shows-melanoid-youth-a-means-of-both-education-and-empowerment/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/cracking-the-code-van-jones-shows-melanoid-youth-a-means-of-both-education-and-empowerment/#comments Wed, 12 Aug 2015 06:01:58 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=2302 Who is Van Jones, you ask?

Van Jones is the co-founder of the Ella Baker Center For Human Rights in Oakland, CA. He is also a Yale-educated attorney who has authored two New York Times bestselling books, and has been heavily involved in high levels of the U.S. government.

Oh yeah, and he also cares about Melanoid youth.

In fact, Jones cares so much about Melanoid youth who are disenfranchised, that he has created a vehicle of empowerment for them. #YesWeCode is an initiative that targets “low opportunity” youth (namely Melanoid youth) and provides them with the necessary resources and tools to become world-class computer programmers. In an age where our youth lag far behind youth outside of Black Society, Mr. Jones has taken on the task of giving our youth the opportunity to compete–and in many cases outperform–their non-Black counterparts in the tech fields.

Watch Jones discuss the mission of #YesWeCode in the video below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvI9wnCaHjY

As stated in the video above, the goal of the organization is to get 100,000 low-opportunity youth to be trained to become coders. The impressive fact about this movement is that the majority of the youth benefiting from this will be Melanoid youths who would have otherwise saw doors slammed shut in their faces by similar initiatives in the dominant society.

Van Jones’s contribution to the empowerment of our youth is highly commendable, and necessary at this point in time. To date, there is a lack of initiatives such as #YesWeCode that will change–and broaden–the concept of success among Melanoid youths. As the world becomes increasingly tech-dependent, our next generation of young Black professionals will be better prepared for the demands of the world around them.
