Melanoid people across the country have developed a genuine interest in patronizing and consuming Black-Owned businesses, services, and products. However, many grown increasingly frustrated with the process of locating such businesses to support, particularly when they’re traveling and/or moving to new cities across the country. If you’re one of the previously mentioned Melanoid people who are dealing with such a challenge, then don’t worry, because ‘There’s an app for that!’

For those who may be wondering, this app is named Reachfolkit’s about to make Black Society’s life a little easier–one city at a time. Created by podcaster and author Daniel FreeMan (who wrote the Bestselling book titled: How To Make A Dollar Out Of Fifteen Cents!), the platform is currently in its beta stages, and a campaign to raise the funds to complete the development of the app has been launched which can found by following this link.

Whether you’re looking for a Black Owned hookah lounge or a mechanic, Reachfolk is a surefire way to stay connected–no matter where you are.

Black Immigrant Population in the States Increased Fourfold Since 1980 https://www.melanoidnation.org/black-immigrant-population-in-the-states-increased-fourfold-since-1980/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/black-immigrant-population-in-the-states-increased-fourfold-since-1980/#comments Mon, 13 Apr 2015 05:50:33 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=1375 The Pew Research Center concluded that the number of immigrants to this country who are of African descent has quadrupled since 1980. Black immigrants comprise 8.7% of the overall Black population of the U.S.

According to the Census Bureau, 16.5% of Black Americans will be immigrants by the year 2060. Continental Africans make up the majority of the Black immigrant population in the U.S., at 36%.

On paper, this appears to be very uplifting data. What we should be concerned with, however, is the long-standing rift that exists between the American-born descendants of African slaves and foreign-born Africans of the Diaspora who move to the States. Of course, this rift was created by policymakers in the States who regulated immigration to this country.  In the years since the end of slavery in 1865, it has been feared by white supremacists that Africans around the world would form alliances to counter–and eventually defeat–systematic racism/white supremacy by building a society totally independent of Westernized societies.

It has been statistically proven that America is witnessing an increase in Black immigration. Can we as Melanoid people (also classified as Black) use this to our advantage? Or will the increasing Black presence here in the States be “addressed” by white supremacists as they attempt to numerically suppress our collective population by watering it down and giving the new Black immigrants classifications or preferences over us that will separate them from the rest of us, much like many Hispanics (or “Afro Latinos”) were treated in years past?
