The Internet has been one of the greatest creations in history. It has connected the world in ways that were never previously possible. It has created more rich and famous people at a much higher rate than ever before. Most notably, the Internet has changed our world forever.

In the midst of the Internet’s vast capabilities, it also serves as a source for bringing news to the world instantaneously. What’s often lost in society’s inundation of news is that an excessive number of these sources of news are strictly satirical, and devalue the once highly regarded institution of press journalism. As more Black people across this country are owning up to the reality of a multifaceted war being waged against us, many in our community are scrambling to the numerous—and easily accessible—news outlets that appear to share stories that will be of interest to us.

When searching online for news pertaining to issues affecting the Black community, please proceed with caution, and thoroughly research the source from which these news stories come. Not only are some of these news sites completely bogus, but they also deliver their stories from a facetious point-of-view, in which they satisfy their agendas by blatantly attacking the subjects of their news stories.

While it would be a stretch to state that the more reputable news sources are “fair and balanced” (especially under a system that encourages and celebrates white supremacist propaganda), we as Melanated people must make a more concerted effort of where we receive our news sources as we make the decision to stay abreast of pressing issues relating to us that occur around the world.
