Twelve black professionals are putting group economics to work. Creating the Miami Millennial Investment Firm, these Miami-Dade professionals seek to get black people to invest in gentrifying neighborhoods of Brownsville, Liberty City, Overtown, Gladeview and Little Haiti.

“We decided we wanted to make this a black project,” one of the group’s founders, Fabiola Fleuranvil told WLRN.

“People were saying, ‘How are you going to find young professionals who can put that type of money on the table?’ And we were able to find it without a problem.”

The firm’s inaugural investment was raised by finding 12 individuals with $10,000 each.

Miami Millennial Investment Firm is a closed group although they are in talks to create subgroups for future investors.

The firm has purchased two single families homes thus far planning to add commercial and industrial properties to their portfolio.

Fleuranvil said “We see the opportunity, but we don’t want to sit back as bystanders. We’re coming in to do it.”

Fleuranvil said when she looked at who was coming in on the cusp of neighborhoods changing in Miami and buying properties and then making large sums from profit it was foreign investors, big-name national and local developers. However, young black professionals were absent from the equation.

Steven Osakue one of  the firm’s investors said other groups have been strategic in South Florida when it comes to ownership in their own communities but in predominantly black enclaves black professionals do not  always see the potential in staying and investing.

“I think it’s been systemic for many generations that we haven’t been taught what to do with our money as much as other communities have,” Osakue said.

Firm members understand that black investors need to be creative and build a collective that pools money together if they are going to be successful in combating gentrification in the twenty first century.

Santiago allegedly opened fire with a handgun at a baggage claim at the airport, killing five people and wounding eight others. After he ran out of bullets, witnesses reportedly said Santiago threw his gun to the ground and laid face down while he waited for officers.

It has been reported by Tampa’s FOX 13 that none of the officers in that city have offered their services to work at the Raymond James Stadium–the venue where Beyonce’s concert will be held.

Across the country, police officers have been known to work big venues and events during their off-duty hours as a means of making extra money. However, it seems quite odd that not a single officer has signed up to work a big-ticket event such as this one. Could this perhaps be a covertly concerted effort by officers in Tampa to send a message of their opposition towards the singer’s so-called ‘anti-police’ song, titled Formation? You be the judge.

Dontrell Stephens is a 22-year-old who, like most other people who ride their bicycles around town, never expect to be shot by a race soldier cop. However, this is exactly what happened to Mr. Stephens in September of 2013.

Mr. Stephens was stopped by an officer by Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Sgt. Adams Lin on that fateful September date, and accused Stephens of reaching for a weapon in his waistband. As it turns out, Stephens was unarmed, and the only “dark object” that was in his hands at the time of his being stopped was a cellphone. Stephens explains that Adams Lin had already began to shoot him despite the fact that his hands were raised after being chased down and stopped.

Adams Lin, who’s Asian, was cleared of any criminal charges involving the shooting, and was promoted to sergeant after the incident. What’s alarming about Adams Lin shooting Dontrell Stephens was that he is a 12-year veteran of the sheriff’s office–ample time for an officer to gain the experience and proper judgement on how to deal with citizens–which makes his claims of innocence very suspicious at best.

Mr. Stephens’s attorneys say that their client will have more than $6 million worth of medical expenses in his lifetime because of the paralysis he suffered after being shot, and $18 million for his pain and suffering. A federal jury has awarded Mr. Stephens $23.1 million.

Mr. Jones, who awaited a tow truck on the side of Interstate 95 after his vehicle stopped working in the wee hours of yesterday morning (Oct. 18), was shot and killed by a race soldier cop. The slain Jones was identified by his brother, who says that he was contacted by Corey (stating that he was in need of a tow truck) shortly before he (Corey) was murdered.

Corey Jones was a drummer who played in many bands and churches in the area.

The investigation of this case has been turned over to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO). As usual in the event of race soldiers killing Melanoid people, the officer in question has been placed on paid administrative leave.

B. Clark

The Walmart store called the police on the customers,who were doing nothing wrong,as seen on the video below. The race soldiers showed up and became aggressive with these customers for no apparent reason at all and ordered them to leave the store. When they took to0 long to leave,one of the Black Walmart customers was arrested. It’s not clear what the actual charge was but hopefully there will be some type of legal action taken upon that Walmart store as well as the Pensacola police department for what clearly seems like a violation of human and civil rights.

This week, a group of about 90 adults and teens from Flint Michigan were wrapping up a college tour. On their way back to Flint, their bus had mechanical issues. They ended up spending the night at the Econo Lodge in Live Oak, Florida.

Coordinator Blake Odum says right after dinner, is when the trip took a much different and disturbing tone.

“It was owned by white people. And they started taking pictures of all the kids as we were walking in and out of the hotel,” said student Melissa Blacque.

“I heard one of the ladies, she said, ‘If I see one more of them, I’m calling the law,'” Odum said.

Blacque says the students were peaceful, but felt uncomfortable at the hotel.

“They were calling us the N word and called Blake the N word. We were just like ‘whoa,'” Blacque said.

Odum says things felt so tense that to avoid any trouble, he tried to be proactive by calling police. When police arrived, they told the group to stay in their rooms for the night. Odum says the officer left him with a chilling message.

“The officer pulled me to the side and said, ‘You know, I just want to let you know this area right off the interstate, people aren’t too accommodating to you all.’ And he said, ‘If you know what I mean.’ I said, ‘Black people?’ And he said, ‘Yeah,'” Odum said.

The students claimed that overnight, the staff antagonized them. The group says they were told to check out the next morning immediately at 10.

As they left, that’s when Odum says tensions reached a boiling point, when he says he heard the manager say, “‘We’re going to get these N****rs off our property.’ And I was blown back by that,” Odum said.

The 31-year-old was booked around 9:45 p.m. on January 10th 2015 on charges of aggravated assault with a weapon. He is being held without bond and will appear before a judge.

Zimmerman became a hero to white supremacists all over the country for murdering Trayvon Martin,and he has received what some estimate to be millions of dollars in donations and financial support for carrying out what many people categorize as a modern day lynching.

How many times will George Zimmerman have to be arrested for assault before our so-called justice system acknowledges that Zimmerman is simply a violent individual that got away with murder simply because of the race of the person he killed, and federal charges for the murder of Trayvon Martin should be filed immediately?

But witnesses said they saw Bartee, who is black, with his hands up as the three shots were fired by the deputy, who is white.

Orange County Police held a press conference where they strategically made African American Sheriff Jerry Demings  the spokesperson to “ask for patience” as authorities investigate the shooting.Bartee was in critical but stable condition Monday evening, Demings said.

“His hands went down after the first shot,” said Natasha Hall, a resident at Timber Sound Apartments east of MetroWest.

Hours after the shooting, Demings said detectives were aware of the differing accounts and asked that the public trust the investigative process to find the truth.
