For the past five years, the Hidden Colors film series has revolutionized the way the masses view the nuances of African/Black/Melanoid history, culture, and general experience throughout the Diaspora. It has also played a pivotal role in the renaissance of progressive Black ideologies and initiatives. Because of the film series’ highly influential and successful nature, one would be naive to assume that this hasn’t caught the attention of members of the dominant society, namely white supremacists (and suspected white supremacists alike).

FOX  Films has released a movie titled Hidden Figures, which re-visits the real life account of the three brilliant Melanoid female mathematicians who were instrumental in ensuring that NASA astronaut John Glenn’s 1962 voyage into space was successful.

While the premise of the film seems harmless on the surface level, it must be noted that the film’s title–and plot–are eerily reminiscent of the abundantly informative (and inspirational) Hidden Colors film series.

With the 4th installment of the critically acclaimed series on the way, it’s a sure bet that the world will be watching–whether it be because they truly enjoy what the movie will offer, or because they seek to outdo the film for their own nefarious reasons.

It was reported that her transitioning occurred earlier today (Jan. 2nd), and the news of her passing sent shockwaves throughout Black Society. Today alone, her name has received the noteworthy status of becoming a trending topic on the Internet and throughout social media. While her legacy cannot be reduced to that of a hashtag, let us realize that today we here at Melanoid Nation have not forgotten her legacy as an educator, author, speaker, and embodiment of a Black woman who truly loved her people.

Her most notable work to date–The Isis Papers: The Keys To The Colors—served as a literary guide that changed the way that we as Melanoid people have to think forever. From etymology to the symbolism found in colors and shapes, Dr. Welsing cracked the code on the innerworkings of the race in America. Her work also shed light on the evil system of racism/white supremacy, and how it is utilized to keep its foot on the necks of Melanated people worldwide.

Dr. Welsing’s work was so prolific, that it was referenced in pop culture. Whether it was referenced in comedic fashion, like the famous “pool scene from the 1992 film Boomerang“, or if it was referenced with more serious overtones, such as the opening lines delivered by Tyrese Gibson in the “intro to the 2001 film Baby Boy“, there is no denying the everlasting impact that the many years of her extensive research and work has not fallen on deaf ears.

Although she was fortunate enough to reach elder status, she remained as relevant now as she was years ago…perhaps her work is even more pivotal to the education and liberation of Melanoid people now. As one of the featured speakers in the critically acclaimed Hidden Colors series, she was reintroduced to a newer, younger audience in recent years by blessing Black Society with her wealth of knowledge that enlightened yet another wave of Black minds in this new millennium.

While everyone deals with the loss of family members in their own way, we want to let it be known that in the gloomiest of hours, the work she left behind shines brilliantly through the veil of sadness and grief. Dr. Frances Cress Welsing has joined the ranks of the ancestors, and everything she’s worked for will not be taken for granted.

Droves of hardworking everyday Black folks took the time and made the necessary sacrifices to make the trip to D.C., carpooling and meeting up for bus rides to make the trip. Scores of notable figures and celebrities in Black Society were also on hand–and were in many ways just regular faces in the crowd as they joined countless others in listening to the message of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. Black business owners set up shop as vendors…and the overall spirit of this weekend’s event was extremely high.

We have seen modern examples of this with some of these questionable online publications that are supposed to cater to “Black interests”.
It appears that the white supremacist media has designated a Negro Shaming Committee. Many is this “committee” appear to be associated with Ebony.com.  And another online “publication” that appears to be part of this committee is Madame Noire- who publishes ground breaking articles like “8 Reasons To Date A White Man’ and “Love Money & The Swirl! 11 Inter-racial Power Couples”- tries to fancy itself as a “lifestyle” publication, but it’s nothing more than another run-of-the-mill gossip site.

Since the release of the critically acclaimed Hidden Colors documentary series that focuses on Black empowerment, so-called writers from Madame Noire has written several articles about the film and the participants in the film, that were filled with misinformation, gossip,and flat out lies.

A couple of the main culprits at Madame Noire are writers who many suspect of pretending to be Black “feminists”. One in particular is a person named Charing Ball-who many people accuse of engaging in yellow journalism and being a lazy writer, has written several slanderous stories about well respected activists and educators like Tariq Nasheed and Umar Johnson.

And recently another suspected “pretend Black feminist” and amateur writer Sierra Boone, penned an article basically lying about the content in the Hidden Colors films.

So the question we must ask is, are these people being used by the dominant society to discredit grassroots progress within Black society?
