Robert Tomanovich, a tree trimmer by occupation, decided to hang a noose from a tree. In addition to the noose, Tomanovich added a Confederate flag, with a sign that read: “I ain’t coming down,” which was placed on a nearby fence. According to reports, a second noose was hung from a tree outside of a second home, which is also owned by Tomanovich.

One of Tomanovich’s tree-trimming employees, who co-signs his boss’s antics, spoke on behalf of Tomanovich, who was  unavailable because he had retreated inside of his house to avoid speaking to the press. His employee was asked by local reporters to give his thoughts on what had transpired. The employee, who chose to remain nameless, responded by saying: “I love it. Screw ’em. We’re going to put up more.”

A noose was found hanging on the campus of Duke University in the early hours of April 1st, the opening day of a month that has already been historically proven to be an interesting month for white extremists. Local authorities removed the noose from the tree at 2:45 A.M., and school officials moved quickly issue a statement of apology. An assembly of approximately 300 people, along with members of the Black Student Alliance of the university, marched to voice their disapproval of the heinous act.

According to a report on msn.com,  a university group named the Duke People of Color Caucus, addressed a similar incident which occurred on the school’s campus on March 22nd. White male supremacist students echoed the chants made by the now infamous white supremacist students of the SAE fraternity at Oklahoma University.

Duke University has already attained somewhat of a white supremacist reputation over the years because of the elitist air that surrounds the school. The noose found on campus does not do much to contribute to the university’s efforts to “rehabilitate” its image, if it even attempted to do so in the first place.
