Many of these locations were called “contraband camps”, and they were hastily built internment camps that were generally in proximity to Union army camps.

One gruesome camp in particular was located in Natchez ,Ms. The Devil’s Punchbowl is a place located in Natchez, where during the Civil War, authorities forced tens of thousands of freed slaves to live in these American death camps. Researcher Paula Westbrook said that, “The union army did not allow them to remove the bodies from the camp. They just gave ’em shovels and said bury ’em where they drop.”

“When the slaves were released from the plantations during the occupation they overran Natchez. And the population went from about 10,000 to 120,000 overnight,” Westbrook said.

“So they decided to build an encampment for ’em at Devil’s Punchbowl which they walled off and wouldn’t let ’em out,” Don Estes, former director of the Natchez City Cemetery, said.

In Natchez Mississipi alone, official estimate that in the time span of just one year, over 20,000 free Black people were killed in the concentration camp called The Devil’s Punchbowl.

Here is a news story about these death camps for Black people.

President Obama recently earmarked millions of dollars in reparations to Jewish survivors of the Nazi Germany holocaust.  When are Melanoid Americans going to received reparations for antebellum slavery, the contraband camps after slavery, the Jim Crow era terrorism, 100 years of ritualistic lynchings, and other state sanctioned terrorism aimed at Black people today still?

What Will THIS Year’s 4th of July Celebration Mean to Black America? https://www.melanoidnation.org/what-will-this-years-4th-of-july-celebration-mean-to-black-america/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/what-will-this-years-4th-of-july-celebration-mean-to-black-america/#comments Wed, 01 Jul 2015 17:47:10 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=2101 Today marks the first day of July, and more notably, the dawning of the 4th of July Weekend. It is a time for people to have an opportunity to take time off from work, to enjoy the food from the outdoor grill, and blast fireworks across the night sky in commemoration of the United States celebrating another year of its now 239-year-old (not including the pre-1776 America that was either comprised of colonies or largely undiscovered/unsettled at the time) existence. For some, the 4th of July Weekend represents the culmination of summer; a time when the year’s hottest season starts to move into full stride. For many others in the dominant American society, the 4th of July gives them the time to truly celebrate what they perceive to be the “greatest country in the history of civilization”. In spite of it all, what does it mean for members of Black Society–the collection of Melanoid people of African descent whose ancestors were likely to have sacrificed their lives by being subjugated to slave labor–the same slave labor force that created this country’s first major economic base and contributed to its perpetual expansion?

By Saturday, July 4th, 2015, this country will have already witnessed one of its most volatile and disheartening years in recent history…and we’re slightly over halfway through 2015 at this point. At the time of this writing, the United States has witnessed literally hundreds of murders of innocent and unarmed Melanoid people at the hands of race soldiers (aka police officers), mass killings of innocent and unarmed Melanoid people in places of worship at the hands of white extremists who were inspired to do so in the name of racism/white supremacy, the burning down of several Black churches in various areas of the United States, and the worst part of the matter is that ALL of this occurred in 2015 alone. The U.S. has a Black president who chooses to ignore the even the basic needs of his biggest group of supporters in this country.

Supporters of Barack Obama during his election in 2008.

In response to the recent escalated mistreatment of Melanoid people, the Senegalese recording artist superstar Akon mentioned that ‘America was never built for Black people‘. This is telling, considering that Akon has an international perspective; and although much of his fame and fortune has obviously been generated here in the States, he has been able to see the hostile racial climate that has taken its toll on Melanoid people (in the States) for what it is.

"How many African-Americans do you know actually consider Africa as a vacation spot? Not one... Even just for knowledge, just to know where they came from, just to get an idea of what that is; there is so much fear instilled in them that they wouldn't even want to go there to visit. You mention Africa, they start shaking." -Akon

In addition to these factors that sum up the Black Experience in America, let us not forget about the Melanoid victims who were left homeless and in dire need of assistance because of Hurricane Katrina. The victims were referred to as “refugees”, as if to suggest that these unfortunate Brothers and Sisters were runaways from another country who had no business in the States anyway. Let us not forget legal constructs that remain relevant within the framework in today’s U.S. government, such as the Dred Scott ruling, and the The Three-Fifths Clausetwo instances that explicitly show that Black people are not American citizens, and that we should be considered (by their laws) subhuman in the first place.

One of the most common white supremacist insults said to us over the years has been the “Go back to Africa” line. In hindsight, one has to wonder: Do the people who say such things subconsciously feel that we are not American citizens, or that we do not deserve to be a part of “their country”? While this particular topic is not intended to be one about citizenship, it does indeed raise concerns about our position in this country, and what does it truly mean to be considered a “Black/African/Melanoid-American” having been born in, and spending a great deal of our entire lives within the borders of the United States?

This year, we are quickly approaching another 4th of July Weekend. Considering what a taxing year 2015 has been on the hearts, spirits, and overall morale of Black America, what will this year’s celebration of the 4th of July mean to you?

In the column, he challenges the fact that we live in a system of white supremacy by stating the following line towards Barack Obama.

Sir, that incident had nothing to do with “racism” – but you and Al Sharpton and your attorney general tried your best to make it so.

If that wasn’t enough, he proceeds to refer to the late Mike Brown (the teenage Melanoid victim killed by Race soldier Darren Wilson in Ferguson, MO last summer) as “the very large black man in Ferguson, Missouri, who had been seen and identified on videotape robbing a small store, walking out with a batch of stolen cigars and threatening the small Asian owner who tried to get him to pay might also have been imagined by you as “your son.”

Boone also implies that America’s problem is actually a spiritual/moral one, instead of a racial issue.

“God loves America, Mr. President. But during your watch, His name is being erased from public life, forbidden in schools, ignored and repudiated in much public policy and laughed at in popular entertainment. You declared, “Whatever America once was, she is no longer a Christian nation.”

Whether Pat Boone’s delusional behavior towards blatantly racially motivated incidents such as the one in Charleston is contingent upon his advanced age–or his elevated white privilege as a celebrity–remains to be seen.  Regardless of the aforementioned speculations, “moral” zealots like Pat Boone are actually America’s problem.

Black Americans Want To Know Why Obama And The DOJ Has Not Spoken Out Against The Genocidal Violence Against Blacks https://www.melanoidnation.org/black-americans-want-to-know-why-obama-and-the-doj-has-not-spoken-out-against-the-genocidal-violence-against-blacks/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/black-americans-want-to-know-why-obama-and-the-doj-has-not-spoken-out-against-the-genocidal-violence-against-blacks/#comments Tue, 14 Apr 2015 14:53:55 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=1358 President Obama has spoken up for gay issues. He has spoken up for Native American issues. He has spoken up for Hispanic issues. But president Obama has not spoken out or done anything about the genocidal murders being waged upon innocent, unarmed Black Americans at the hands of white police officers and other white perpetrators who generally go unpunished for their actions.

Any policy to give any type of protection to Black Americans against violent white supremacist attacks has historically been implemented by the federal government. But now that people who believe in white supremacy sees that President Obama has not been willing to do anything or speak up for Black Americans specifically, this is being used as a green light  for a wave of white violent backlash against Melanoid people.

So Black Americans would like to know why does the President  speak up for the needs of different specific racial, ethnic, religious, and sexual groups, but Black Americans who are being systematically and legally slaughtered by suspected white supremacists  in front of the world stage, are getting the “benign neglect” treatment from President Obama and the Department of Justice?

Will Blacks Maintain High Interest in Politics After Obama? https://www.melanoidnation.org/will-blacks-maintain-high-interest-in-politics-after-obama/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/will-blacks-maintain-high-interest-in-politics-after-obama/#comments Fri, 03 Apr 2015 18:20:35 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=1268 Next year will mark the final year of President Barack Obama’s two terms in office. At this point in time, it comes as no surprise that his largest base of supporters were voters in the Black/Melanoid community who assumed that President Obama would have their best interests in mind at the beginning of his first term.

Fast forward seven years later, and many of us (excluding the ones in the know previously to Obama’s presidency) have come to the realization that President Obama’s administration has seemingly served every other group in America besides the Black community, who ironically were his loudest and proudest supporters. Although the 2016 election is still over a year and-a-half away, hopefuls are already gearing up and positioning themselves to be chosen as the next president.

Perhaps the most valuable lesson learned from our drunken euphoric state during Obama’s time in office is that political power is useless without group economic power, which other groups have embraced wholeheartedly. As of late, the dialogue in the Melanoid community has shifted from the need for political reform in our communities, to the need for economic empowerment. As new candidates step to the forefront who clearly don’t have Black America’s best interests in mind, will this force us to learn to depend more on each other for our own salvation, as opposed to ‘extending a hand’ to strangers, as we have done countless times in years past? Or will we allow ourselves to once again fall into the endless cycle that is American politics in hopes of Melanoid Empowerment?

This is a woman who felt that Obama’s presidency would fix our issues.

Stephen A. Smith feels that we should just turn to the Republican Party to remedy our situation.

Tea Party Members Protest Outside The White House Calling For The Lynching of Obama https://www.melanoidnation.org/tea-party-members-protest-outside-the-white-house-calling-for-the-lynching-of-obama/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/tea-party-members-protest-outside-the-white-house-calling-for-the-lynching-of-obama/#comments Sat, 13 Dec 2014 01:08:29 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=614 As we have seen in recent events around the country ,white supremacy has come back in it’s most overt and blatant form. We are now in the middle of Jim Crow 2.o. And the white supremacists are using the same tactics and rhetoric from the first Jim Crow era.

This week,Tea partiers shouted obscene, racist chants  while gathered outside of the White House to protest President Obama’s executive actions on immigration.

Right Wing Watch reported that among the shouts, captured on video by one of the activists, protestors could be heard calling for the hanging of Obama.

“Hang the lying Kenyan traitor!” one protester could be heard saying in the video.

“Plenty of trees in the front yard,” another said. “Wouldn’t be the first one hung on one of them trees.”

“We’ve got rope,” said another.

“Don’t snap his neck, you pull him up watch him choke to death,” someone else said.

Watch the video below:

Isn’t it considered an act of terrorism to threaten the life of a president while standing outside of the White House?

The New KKK is Welcoming Black Members: Would You Join? https://www.melanoidnation.org/the-new-kkk-is-welcoming-black-members-would-you-join/ https://www.melanoidnation.org/the-new-kkk-is-welcoming-black-members-would-you-join/#comments Thu, 13 Nov 2014 23:48:04 +0000 http://melanoidnation.org/?p=80 Recently, KKK organizer John Abarr has been trying to promote a new “diverse” Ku Klux Klan organization by forming a new Klan chapter. According to a recent interview with the Great Falls Tribune, this new KKK chapter proclaims it won’t discriminate against race, religion or sexual orientation.

“The KKK is for a strong America,” Abarr told the newspaper. “White supremacy is the old Klan. This is the new Klan.”

Abarr and his KKK organization even had a sit down meeting with the NAACP in 2013 to discuss racial issues. Many people look at these actions by Abarr as being a publicity stunt to rebrand himself and to legitimize his image after being associated with a known terrorist organization like the KKK for so many years.

White supremacists like Abarr and others have no problem appearing to make a mockery out of the KKK,because there are several other more refined and sophisticated white extremist organizations like American Renaissance and the National Alliance to name a few.

This stunt by Abarr appears to be another entry in the Post Racial Propaganda campaign that many people were trying to promote after the election of President Obama. Even today,in an attempt to deny the existence of systematic white supremacy, many people will try to use the “if American is so racists, why would we elect a Black president” talking point.

Since President Obama has been in office,we have seen systematic white supremacy circle back in a vicious and violent wave. Melanoid men, women and children are unjustly, and legally targeted, attacked beaten, and killed by law enforcement on a daily basis in the U.S. And white supremacists around the country support and encourage these law enforcement officials to continue these actions against Melanese people.

So it’s very disingenuous to deny the existence of blatant systematic racism in America because “we have a Black president”. Pretty soon the new post-racial talking point might be:

“There is no more racism in America, because the KKK is allowing Black people to join”.
