A couple of white supremacist students at Arbor View High School in Las Vegas were charged with making terroristic threats against Black students at their school.
A third white supremacist student involved in this detailed plot was not charged for the incident. One of the 15 year old terrorists pleaded guilty Monday in Juvenile Court to a felony charge of making a terrorist threat. He’s due for sentencing Friday.
The terrorist teens created a social media page with photographs and extremely racist commentary of the Black victims they were going to target. The teens were influenced by the white supremacist killers who committed the infamous Columbine Shooting.
Brigid Duffy, Clark County’s chief juvenile prosecutor, has said that the 15-year-old had access to at least three firearms at home. Police confiscated them. The 14-year-old was sentenced April 12 to a juvenile facility diversion program followed by at least three years’ probation.
This softball sentence gives the illusion of punishment, because “juvenile diversion programs” are discretionary depending on the people in charge of the “program.” Diversion programs may vary from low-intensity warn-and-release programs to more-intensive treatment or therapeutic programming. Some of these programs require no incarceration time for the offender.
The fact that prosecutor Brigid Duffy and Juvenile Court Judge William Voy permitted this type of slap on the wrist sentence for such a vile and dangerous crime, leaves many with the impression that the judicial system is complicit in this form of white supremacist terrorism.

I thought we were against punitive forms of correction and for rehabilitation ? I am not sure what’s going on with this story. We don’t want 15 year olds labeled and ruined for life, whatever the nature of their crimes and whatever their ethnicity. That’s the whole point of reform, right? Sure, at this point in their lives their minds are filled with reprehensible ideation. OK. All agreed. The point of carcereal reform is predicated on the idea that people can become better, think better, heal themselves.
