JACKSONVILLE, FL — One year after 12-year-old Tamir Rice was shot and killed by a race soldier in Ohio, another innocent Black child suffered an attempt on his life.
Jacksonville Sheriff Officers were called out to the home of a woman located off of Harts Road after she reported that a teen was shooting a BB gun to her window this past Friday evening.
Here is the video footage of the Tom Hackney, Director of Investigations, briefing the local media.
The shooting victim, who was a 14-year-old Black boy, was shot in the leg by a race soldier cop by the name of Josh Livinggood. The cop shot at the boy six times before one of the bullets connected with the boy’s leg. Fortunately for the victim, the gunshot wound wasn’t fatal. It should also be noted that the boy is mentally challenged, and his previous encounters with the police have involved his condition.
It was determined later that the boy was shot under the erroneous suspicion that he possessed a “Desert Eagle”, which is why the cop felt compelled to shoot the Melanoid child.

A very serious problem is white people making 911 calls that get Black people shot or killed. There should be some sort of screening tool or prompt:
press 1 if you are white 2 if you are Black
If you are white why are you calling 911? press 1 if you are reporting a white person (route the call to the police dispatch immediately)
press 2 if you are reporting a Black person
Why are you calling to report a Black person? press 1 if you see a Black stranger in your neighborhood press 2 if you don’t know (send the call to voicemail for followup in morning)
What do you believe the Black person is doing in your neighborhood? press 1 if you think they live in your neighborhood (send the call to voicemail for followup in the morning) press 2 if you don’t think they live in your neighborhood.

The child should have been institutionlized for his mental condition. It seems like he was a danger to himself and others. Black folks have to be honest and quit making excuses for bad behavior. It sounded like in this particular case the officer acted appropriately.

Prayers for this young boy though.

Calls the black child “Subject” not child, teen, victim, suspect, or anything that specifies him as a human….
