PHILADELPHIA (PA) — Ellis Smith, a 20-year-old Melanoid man who was a passenger on a SEPTA train, was arrested by cops because he allegedly refused to pay the boarding fee. In the following video, there appears to be excessive force applied to Mr. Smith, who was attempting to shield his infant daughter from the force applied upon him by the officers.
The fee, which is $2.25, is actually waived as it applies to children under 4 years of age. In the following video, you can see Mr. Smith being placed in a chokehold by one of the officers on the train.
“We don’t teach people to grab persons by the throat,” says Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority Police Chief Thomas Nestel in a statement issued in response to the incident.

Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to cops attacking our black brothers and sisters. Watching this made me sick to my stomach. What I found most troubling was the way the black cops just stood around and let it happen, didn’t try to intervene, or anything.
Don’t be surprised that some laws will be passed asap about recording police while they are making an arrest and laws that forbid you from going public if you happen to catch something on a security camera . I give it less than 2 years, the structure in sure wants to put a lid on all this.
As far as this story, so this young man was approached bc he did not pay for his daughter,? The child was free do to her age?
My gawd who was the strange woman holding his daughter? What kind of man separates a baby from its father over 2.25 and at least does not have the man get a family member or friend come get the baby. That woman could have been a total weirdo!
Your writer is mad phoney he does incomplete stories based on other people’s articles. There is too much going on in the world today that pertains to black people to have a phoney writer plagarizing real journalist and regurgitating incoherent blurbs and incomplete stories
This writer tries to give everyone he meat and potatoes of the story most of the time but in this case he could have included a little more info. Other that that I think he does a good job. Other news sites like Infowars does the same thing B. Clark does. They reference their stories from the Associated Press and other news sources and provide a link to read the full article. Is that really that bad?
I thought B. Clark was reporting on a story while shedding a little light on things about the situation while providing a link where you can read the original story which by the way may try and push a particular narrative or promote a certain type of agenda. You know? So I guess you would want B. Clark to interview the brother in this article to get a full story first hand? I hear ya. That doesn’t sound bad either.
Dude you never put your baby in that type of environment !!! You get off the train and walk. If you by yourself? Yea you battle with them police assholes. But you know they don’t give a fuck about Black lives mattering. And those bystanders complaining? Why yall just didn’t pay the brother’s fair for him ? Had it been a White dude somebody white would have just payed the fair for him. The Black police should just said leave him alone I will pay the fair my fellow kkk’ers. Then tell the brother ” immo give a pass bro, but if I catch on here again tryna ride fa free yo ass is going to jail.
So, I am confused? Did the guy pay his own fair? Are children under the age of 4 waived from paying $2.25? Is his daughter in that fee waiving age bracket? I guess I will have to read the whole story to find out.
I read the full article and I am still confused. The full article is stating that Smith didn’t pay his fare so the cashier notified the police. However, a person who was there tweeted that they was harassing Smith because he didn’t pay for his daughter. So which one is it really? Couldn’t they have just given him a ticket? But then again when he “refused to show ID” I guess that gave them the green light, huh? SMH…
I would like to see the cashier who informed the police. I want to know her story? I wonder do they have cameras at the turn style?
