17-year-old Kali Chatmon, a Melanoid teenage girl who resides in Edwardsville, Kansas, says she experienced an ugly attack of racial and sexist epithets as she was driving on Sunday, May 3.
Her experience as a motorist that day resulted in being the target of road rage from a white male in his forties. Chuck Stites, the man behind the road rage, also happens to be the City Councilman of Edwardsville. According to Ms. Chatmon, Stites nearly hit her on the road after she attempted to make a right turn. What happened afterwards was shocking and hurtful to the teenage girl.
“He was just saying things like go back to Baltimore then he called me a black n****r b*tch,” Chatmon said. Ms. Chatmon’s assessment of the incident may not be far-fetched in the least bit. According to The Chieftan, publication that serves Edwardsville and surrounding areas, Stites was profiled as a candidate during his campaign for City Councilman back in March of this year, where he discussed his 23 years of service for the Kansas City Police Department, and his desire to address the needs of the police and fire departments. In years past, this incident could have possibly been written off as a coincidence, but given the current elevated climate we live in under the system of racism/white supremacy, and his long time experience as a police officer, Stites’s remarks towards Chatmon on May 3rd must be taken seriously.

While I agree that if what she say’s is true the guy should resign but the black population there is like 6%. The only power they could ever have there would be from their own community where they circulated resources.

If you have made such statement as such, What kind of grown man would say such hateful remarks to a child/teenager, he should be kicked out of office. He forgot that her parents vote could have put him in office. Think before you open your mouth again. Just like they put you into that office they can get you out.. That 6% of the population along with a few others races their needs to ban against him and give him hell for what he put this child through. How would he feel if someone called him a lot of hurtful cruel names. We have to start banning together and get those racist out of the office. I was shock to hear such on a person but this was a child that you said this to.
