Black Woman Awarded $250,000 by Hooters After Experiencing Racial Discrimination

A Melanoid woman experienced mistreatment by her former employer for an unconventional reason.

Farryn Johnson, a 26-year-old ex-waitress of a Baltimore Hooters, was awarded $250,000 by a Maryland arbitrator when it was determined that a restaurant implemented a “vague and subjective” hair policy that conjured up racist overtones. The hair policy required the management to enforce policies that determine what employee’s hair color is right for them based on their racial background.

Johnson, whose hair was highlighted with blond streaks, was told that “Black people don’t have blond hair”, and was terminated for her hairstyle. After starting work for Hooters on September of 2012, Ms. Johnson was fired on August 12 of the following year. The date of her termination occurred six weeks after being told by Hooters management on June 30, 2013 that she had six weeks to change her hairstyle. She was awarded the $250,000 after an April 2, 2015 judgment after filing a complaint with the EEOC back in 2013.

Here’s a report to the story in the video below.

    As the great Neely Fuller, Jr says in the Code “Do not worship hair”.

    It is a great thing this melanated female got compensated for her mistreatment by the racists on the job.

    Unfortunately, that is a rare thing under the System of White Supremacy.

    Still, I am concerned with the blond hair thing that can be seen on so many melanated females (and males).

    My only question:
    Would have she been compensated if her employers’ complaint was about her having natural hair ?

      Yes, this is true but is not the point. How many white women who do not have naturally blonde hair dye their blonde? Why is ok for them and not for a melanoid woman?

    In my humble opinion, most melanoid women dye their hair blonde because they are white identified. Ever hear of the negropean? Negros who have completely immersed themselves into white culture and have been subjected to brain washing to such an extent that they want to look like their oppressor. To me, that is a sick & sad state of affairs. Love yourself, your people and claim your culture black women. Wear your hair natural like the herbal tea chics Tariq is always talking about..lol

    @Unapologetically me

    It is unacceptable behavior for an oppressed people to identify with its oppressor. This is sick behavior. And it makes you inherently contradictory when you later complain about racism.

    It is ILLOGICAL = lack of Black Self-Respect.

    @NorthPhillyHustla

    Indeed.

  50. “Thanks for the tips you share through this site. In addition, lots of young women who become pregnant usually do not even seek to get health insurance coverage because they worry they probably would not qualify. Although some states today require insurers offer coverage irrespective of the pre-existing conditions. Premiums on these types of guaranteed programs are usually bigger, but when with the high cost of health care bills it may be any safer strategy to use to protect a person’s financial potential.”
