Michael Slager, the former white cop who executed a Melanoid man by the name of Walter Scott in Charleston, SC last year, has been hit with heavier-than-expected charges.
Yesterday, an indictment was filed, accusing Slager of denying the late Walter Scott his rights under the color of law. It was also noted that Slager committed the murder “without legal justification”, and he surrendered his constitutional right “to be free from the use of unreasonable force by a law enforcement officer.”
Other charges being given to Slager include obstruction of justice, and one count of using a weapon during “a felony crime of violence.” If convicted, Slager could face life in prison, in addition to a $250,000 fine. According to the breaking news story featured on The Washington Post, it is a rare occurrence to see federal civil rights charges upheld in court.
The indictment was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Division of South Carolina. Stay tuned for future developments as the Michael Slager trial continues to unfold.

I’ll wait until he is sentenced before I give ANY credit to the criminal injustice system. We’ve learned that a conviction is meaningless unless a judge imposes the proper punishment at sentencing.

They could start giving justice by identifying who those folks are in those lynching photos. But why would they. Then, they need to change these buildings from the names of their racists forefathers. I happened to be in Washington DC for a class trip…yesterday. Hell! They have a statue of Ronald Reagan as a good guy in the Capital Hill building. As a guy to be honored. I was completely turned off by the tour. The tour guide was asking things like: What is going on in this picture? I was like: There are no black people showing in those civil war paintings. She asks: What should change? I was like: Truth, put truth in these paintings, make it right, make it plain, give us justice and tell these young folks that this whole city was built off of free labor of our ancestors, every last one of these old buildings with columns of perfect, heavy, bone back breaking slabs of granite, marble, limestone, at peeks of perfection. She did not want to talk to me anymore, all stumbling and fumbling through her words after that. But she admitted that what I said was true.
