BBC, the U.K. based news publication, is reporting that the police presence is extremely unforgiving towards Melanated people of African descent who reside in Portugal.
The report, titled ‘They Hate Black People‘ says it all, as it exposes the white supremacy of police officers in that country. On one account, a 14-year-old boy by the name of Elson was shot in the head at point blank range and killed by an officer after the officer claimed that he heard the boy cocking a pistol back in 2009. Witnesses say that the 14-year-old boy was unarmed.
Despite the country’s claims of integrating its Black immigrants with its non-Black citizens, and contrived propaganda used to create the illusion of racial equality, the white citizens of Portugal adhere to a conflicting narrative in which they openly discuss their distaste for the Black immigrants to their country. I think Black people might want to invest into learning Portuguese (the Brazilian version) to communicate more easily with the African diaspora and the South-Eastern African countries (Angola, Mozambique, etc). Add Swahili to that 🙂

Emanon, check out two movies called Elite Squad 1 & 2. (Tropa de Elite). This movie tells a story about the militarization and corruption in the police in Brazil. Its a very good movie.

(regarding my previous comment, the video I was talking about was NOT the one of this article – for some reason, it played another commercial showing a Racist Portuguese woman demanding to change seats because she was next to a Black person, and the Black guy gets a first class seat because of the incident…nonsense)
Some of the people interviewed here seemed a bit racist and backwards as well. But listen to the two young guys and you can see that not everyone is like that.
The interviewer asks if Portugal would be better without black people and gypsies. Imo, (white) Portuguese people have always had an inferiority complex – when they compare themselves to the rest of the world. And with some reason – can you think of any significant achievements by Portugal (not individual Portuguese) in the last 100 years? Not me.
The reality is Portugal is doing ok in the world and have no real basis in blaming its economic problems on its immigrants. They wouldn’t be much better or worse without them. A lot of Portuguese emigrate around the world as well – including to African countries. Those interviewees don’t think about that!
It’s funny to hear that knowing that the portuguese are migrating to Angola and mozambique because of the high unemployement caused by the economy. I even read an article in Th netherlands about illegal portuguese who’ve been deported from Angola. Karma.
I don’t like portuguese people because I haven’t encountered a good one yet..they have showed racist attitudes towards me..and that’s in america.
