Billionaire media mogul Rupert Murdoch took to Twitter to defend 20th Century Fox’s new movie “Exodus” that casts a variety of white actors as Egyptians.
The Exodus movie has received criticism because the film takes place in Africa during the 19th Dynasty of Kemet (Egypt). At this time period,it would be historically and genetically impossible for the Africans in that area to look even remotely white or Anglo,so people are correct in their criticism.
Director Ridley Scott gave Variety about why he didn’t use Egyptian, Black or Arab actors for the film. He said: “I can’t mount a film of this budget, where I have to rely on tax rebates in Spain, and say that my lead actor is Mohammad so-and-so from such-and-such,” Scott says.
To many,that excuse is a cop-out,because according to publicity still photos from the film,there are scenes where the sphinx monument in Egypt is even portrayed with Anglo features.
So it appears that the Exodus film is simply another attempt to deliberately white wash history.
